Peoples looking towards PDP to get them rid from present corrupt system: Mufti

BATOTE, JUNE 27: Patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that National Conference led coalition regime has failed to carry forward the equitable development agenda-which was implemented by the various PDP led government to ensure balanced development in the whole State. He, however, assured that PDP would formulate a comprehensive policy for inclusive growth of the State.

Addressing an impressive public meeting at Batote to conclude his four days whirlwind tour of Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley regions, Mufti said that six years performance of coalition regime appeared only on papers. “Backwardness of Chenab Valley is result of the wrong policies adopted by the successive National Conference regimes”, he said and
regretted that except exploiting sentiments of the people for political gains nothing has been done to address genuine problems of the common masses.

Mufti observed that this region has huge tourism and power generation potential and there was a need to explore this potential to improve socio-economic conditions of the residents of Chenab Valley. He reminded the gathering that to explore the tourism potential in this region, the previous PDP regime had constituted tourism developmental authorities for different areas. He further mentioned towards the comprehensive plan which was formulated for creating tourism infrastructure at Jai Valley of Bhaderwah and other areas of Chenab Valley.

“We will develop this region as independent tourist destination to attract maximum number of tourists from inside and outside the country”, he said and announced water reservoir of Baglihar hydro-electric project would also be utilized for adventurous water
sports. Pointing towards huge potential of generating power in this region, Mufti strongly demanded that locals should be given priority in the new hydro-electric projects to be started in this belt. “Instead of appointing locals on small petty jobs,  the agencies engaged in executing the hydro-electric projects must open training centres here to train the local unemployed youth so as to engage them on technical jobs”, he demanded, adding, “employment opportunities for locals must be created while constructing hydro-electric projects in this belt.

Highlighting achievements of the previous PDP-led regime, Mufti said that during the tenure of previous regime more than 70,000 teachers were appointment and nearly 30,000 Anganwari workers were also engaged but in total transparent manner.  “We not only recruited people in transparent manner but also institutionalised the whole recruitment process so as to recruit only genuine and deserving people”, he reminded.

Seeking decisive mandate of the people, Mufti said that change was order of the day and people of State were looking towards PDP to change the present corrupt system. “It is my desire to establish a system where every sections of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth”, he said and added

that the agenda of the PDP was formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the State. He said that PDP during its tenure had carved out a path of peace and development in the State by treating all regions and sub-region equally.

PDP patron recalled that during PDP-Congress regime especial attention
was paid towards neglected and remotest areas. Exhorting youth to play important role to change present corrupt system in the State, Mufti promised that PDP, in its manifesto, would give importance to problems of educated unemployed youth.
